Cybele Mag is a publication for women who love bikes. And it’s also for anyone who understands that the best part of cycling isn’t always the bike.
There is so much more to cycling than the bike. It’s about discovering what’s around the next corner. It could be something that wasn’t on the map, like a long climb that you weren’t expecting or a neat trail feature. Then there are the places we discover, the people we meet, the stories we collect and the lives we build around two wheels.
The life around cycling is the story.
Cybele Mag began life as Mountain Bike for Her, a print magazine created for women who wanted more from cycling than the usual industry conversation. It grew into something bigger than bikes: a community of writers, riders, adventurers and curious women who brought their own perspectives to the world of cycling.
Then life happened.
The magazine went on hiatus in 2018 for what we thought would be for a few months. During that time the cycling world changed. The publishing world also changed. And eventually, it became clear that bringing it back shouldn’t mean recreating what had been.
So Cybele is something new.
Today, Cybele Mag looks beyond a single kind of riding. Mountain, gravel and road are all part of the same larger story. We’re interested in where the bike can take you and what happens when you get there.
We’ll talk about riding, but we’ll also talk about adventure, travel, places, people, culture, food, history, gear and the world we’re riding through. We’ll tell stories about women who ride in all kinds of ways, for all kinds of reasons.
There is no single right way to be a cyclist here.
You don’t have to race or be fast, or own the latest bike and have a garage full of gear. Then only thing you need is to be curious about what happens when you ride.
Why Cybele?
Cybele takes her name from the ancient Mountain Mother Goddess. She’s associated with mountains, wild places, the natural world and untamed landscapes. We thought that it was a fitting name for a publication about finding your way into the world on a bicycle.
We’re here for the ride and everything else that happens along the way.
