It’s been a while. A very long while, actually. So let’s go back to the beginning…
Many of you may remember us as Mountain Bike for Her. We started in 2012 as a digital publication and eventually migrated to print. We were having a really good run until I crashed on my mountain bike. I was left with a concussion and needed to put everything on hold. You can read more about that in our last Instagram post.
Then COVID hit, just two weeks after I posted that. So I sat back and watched what was happening to the media industry as the world shut down. It wasn’t pretty. Some of my favourite magazines closed their doors overnight. I knew a change was coming, I just didn’t know what it would look like.
While I was watching to see where the media industry was heading, I got distracted by other things. I started an endurance coaching business. I bought a boat. Other things kept my interest, and what I thought would be a short hiatus turned into several years.
I still don’t know where the media industry is heading, but the timing feels right for a revival.
I’m starting everything from scratch. It’s not worth trying to revive the old posts, and during the hiatus I lost control of the mtb4her and mountainbikeforher domains. In a strange way, it was like ripping off the Band-Aid. It gave me room to start fresh, and the old format just felt a bit…tired.
Now, instead of focusing solely on mountain biking, we’re embracing gravel and road riding as well. I just love bikes. I ride mountain, gravel and road myself, and I know I’m not alone.
We’re looking forward to having you come along for the ride. We’ll be sharing the adventures, the training tips, the personal stories, and whatever else comes up along the way.
We’d love for you to sign up for our newsletter and stay in the know. You’ll find the link in the menu above, or you can simply click here.
Thank you for sticking with us!

Teresa! SO glad you’re back & doing well. I’ve missed this. I, too, fought my own battle during your hiatus. I battled stage IV cancer and won! I do have some lifelong side effects from it that have made it a challenge to get back on my bike. Just this week, I hopped on it (5 years after the fact) Your re-entry is perfect timing for me!
I am so happy to see you still here! In many ways… Congrats on beating cancer for one, that is fantastic news! And congrats on dusting off the bike! Seeing your name pop up here and on the socials made me so happy. You were one of my favourite people and I loved seeing your name again 🙂
Hooray welcome back!
I’m bringing Geargals back too….cheers to the OG outdoors bloggers!
That is awesome! I’m loving this resurgence of the OG bloggers 🙂
